The ANDbreathe Bag is here to carry your yoga / pilates mat to and from class, and provide a home for it in between! It is a lined cylinder with a drawstring closure at the top.
The pattern includes an optional zipped patch pocket on the side - perfect to store any of those little bits 'n' pieces you might need to bring with you to class: a travel card, keys, phone, a few coins... This is a straightforward project; a practical bag with a simple form and a few interesting details making it both beautiful and a fun sew!
As mats come in different lengths, widths and thicknesses, two bag width options have been provided; narrow and wide. The pattern can be lengthened easily and instructions on how to do so are included.
Closures? The main bag is closed with a drawstring and a snap fixing can be added for some extra security.
Pockets? You can add an external zipped patch pocket to the main panel.
Straps? The ANDbreathe Bag has a long shoulder / crossbody strap, and you have the choice of two different ways to make it, one using a pair of d-rings or rectangular rings, the other with a rectangular ring and an adjustable slider.

The ANDbreathe Bag construction is straightforward. The optional patch pocket adds a gentle challenge - trust the tutorial and enjoy the process! As always the tutorial covers each step in detail to help empower you to tackle all elements with confidence.

OUTER FABRIC:
MAIN:
Mid to heavy weight stable fabrics. Mid to heavy weight canvas, oilskin/waxed canvas, upholstery fabrics, denim, stable mid to heavy weight linen. If reinforced with appropriate interfacing, or quilting, lighter mid-weight fabrics can also be used, such as corduroy, twill, lighter canvases.
Narrow: Up to 75cm (7/8 yd) of 110cm/42" wide or 150cm/58" wide outer fabric.
Wide: Up to 75cm (7/8 yd) of 110cm/42" wide or 150cm/58" wide outer fabric.
CONTRAST:
Light - mid weight stable fabrics. Mid / light weight cotton canvas, stable mid weight linen, quilting cotton.
Narrow: Up to 30cm (1/3 yd) of 110cm/42" wide or 150cm/58" wide outer fabric.
Wide: Up to 30cm (1/3 yd) of 110cm/42" wide or 150cm/58" wide outer fabric.

LINING FABRIC:
Mid to light weight stable fabrics. Cotton, quilting cotton, linen, light/mid weight cotton canvas, waterproof canvas. A "slippery" lining such as polyester waterproof canvas is a great option as your mat will slide in and out easily!
Narrow: Up to 75cm (7/8 yd) of 110cm/42" wide outer fabric or 60cm (3/4 yd) of 150cm/58" wide outer fabric.
Wide: Up to 75cm (17/8yd) of 110cm/42" wide outer fabric or 80cm (1yd) of 150cm/58" wide outer fabric.

- Drawstring Cord: Cotton cord, shoe lace, self woven cord, ribbon, twill tape in the following lengths: Narrow: 75cm (7/8 yd) drawstring cord, Wide: 90cm (1 yd) drawstring cord

Zipped Patch Pocket: 1 x 15cm (6") closed ended zipper or 17cm (6 3/4") of zipper tape.
Strap Option: Standard Adjustable Shoulder Strap:

- Long Strap: 130cm (51") of 25mm (1") cotton webbing.
